Background

Revel is a multidisciplinary consulting firm with offices in Seattle and San Francisco. Founded in 2005 as CRM Consultants, the firm initially provided clients with expert resources in IT integration, planning and resource management. Following rapid growth and expansion into new areas of expertise, the firm called on Stoke in 2008 to help rename and rebrand the company as Revel.

In 2016, with the electric pace of today’s digital revolution – and its effects on IT, organizational structures, work environments and people – Revel again turned to Stoke to refresh and invigorate its brand strategy, messaging and visual identity.

Challenge

Consulting firms tend to look and sound the same, with exhaustive lists of services, industry expertise and clients. It was Revel’s belief that creating value for customers through business begins with putting people—not projects—at the center of thinking. Working with the firm’s executive leadership, Stoke developed a brand position that focused on the nature and character of knowledge workers, and the vital role of Design Thinking in helping businesses discover and capitalize on opportunity.

Outcome

Revel adopted the brand position: “With empathy to drive insights, we create powerful human experiences in the digital era.” By orienting their entire brand strategy and organization around human-centered design, Revel flipped the traditional consulting model inside out to create communities of professionals engaged to solve problems together. This new framework, in alignment with the refreshed brand, was deployed in 2016 and is helping Revel improve the speed, quality and consistency of delivery for its customers.

In addition, Revel and Stoke worked together with our partners at Turnstyle Studio to develop a bold new visual identity to reinforce the human-centered approach. Using a vibrant palette and a unique dithering pattern, Turnstyle created a unique imagery style for Revel that allows them to represent people in a new and distinctive way.

A new website—designed to be fluidly responsive across desktop and mobile devices—was one of the most robust vehicles for the updated brand. Following the launch in late 2016, Revel saw a 63% increase in web traffic, as well as a 27% increase in time spent per session, and a 30% increase in pages per session.

“I can’t tell you how helpful the brand refresh exercise has been! It’s literally up-leveled all new engagements and proposals – by default high quality growth. Thanks for helping us reclaim all of our experience in online services. Game changer!”
