Strategists lead the client and brand team through structured research and discovery processes, including; stakeholder interviews, competitive analysis, communications audits and market research. They then identify market opportunities, create unique positions, identify personality attributes, and define key messages.
Demonstrated mastery of brand development process, from discovery to platform development and beyond, is essential.
You will have to defend your ideas and work from both sides of the brain. You have to respect design – and effectively correlate creative solutions to business strategy. Candidates will likely have 6+ years of enterprise-level design, brand strategy or research experience in a brand consulting firm, consumer products company or management consulting firm. (Or, if you've traveled overseas a lot, we often find that people with a broader perspective are quite good at strategy...)
